Congratulations to the Hampton Trust who have just been awarded their third year of funding from WWMT.
WWMT supports an ecotherapy project on the Isle of Wight which helps young people referred from Children’s Services, Pupil Referral Units and from Exclusion departments in schools.
The children were displaying anti-social behaviour, criminal behaviour and were unable to work safely in a group setting. Through the medium of the ecotherapy project, The Hampton Trust have managed to engage with the hard to reach young people and provided them with an opportunity to form a positive relationship with their eco mentors and with nature itself.
The results of this are better mental well-being, increased team working and social skills and increased initiative and leadership skills. This is a good example of an alternative approach to engaging with young people and we are pleased to be able to support it.
