Stamford Bridge 2001

Jonathan Wates TeamThe football day was created because Jonny and Rick Wates wanted to celebrate Will’s life and raise some money for WWMT while doing it. Will was always playing football in the back garden at home and was a passionate supporter of Chelsea football club. Jonny and Rick wanted the day to reflect this in some way and booked Stamford Bridge (the home of Chelsea) for a summers night of football. There were three teams. Jonny captained the white team, Rick the blue and Rory Watson (a school friend of Will’s) the red team.

After three hard fought matches Jonny Wates lifted the cup that was presented by Lady Wates. Rick’s team took a valiant second place and Rory’s team the bronze.

It was a great day which ended up raising £1500 for the WWMT. Thank you to all the players and supporters for making this possible.
